An Internal Affairs Unit for the Divisional Secretariat - Gomarankadawala!

An Internal Affairs Unit has now been established within our Divisional Secretariat in line with the “New procedure of establishing an Internal Affairs Unit in all Public Institutions” initiated jointly by the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption in terms of Anti-Corruption Act No. 09 of 2023.

Accordingly, if you become aware of any anomalies, corruption, or allegations within our Divisional Secretariat, you can report the information or complaints to the Internal Affairs Unit located on our premises, either anonymously or with your identity, using the following methods:

කොළඹ නමින් හැඳින්වෙන කොලොන් තෝටා නම් සම්භවයක් සහිත සම්භවයක් ඇති කොළඹ සිට කොලිණි නදියේ වරාය දක්වා එහි නම ලැබී ඇත. කෙසේ වෙතත් බොහෝ දෙනෙක් අදහස් කරන්නේ කොළඹ යන නමට සිංහල සම්භවයක් ඇති බවයි. කොළ අඹ තොට "කොළ අඹ ගස්වලින් යුත් වරායක්" යන අර්ථය ඇති කෝලා අමෝ තෝටා යන නාමය ද එහි අගනුවරට වර්තමාන නාමය ලබා දෙයි. 1815 දී ශ්රී ලංකාව අගනුවර වූ කොළඹ බවට පත් වූයේ බ්රිතාන්ය අධිරාජ්යයේ අධිකාරයටය. කෙසේ වෙතත්, 1948 දී ශ්රී ලංකාව නිදහස ලැබීමෙන් පසු ප්රාග්ධනය ලෙස කටයුතු කිරීමත් සමඟම රඳවා තබා ගන්නා ලදී. 1978 දී ශ්රී ජයවර්ධනපුර කෝට්ටේ පරිපාලන කාර්යාලය ශ්රී ලංකා වාණිජ කේන්ද්රස්ථානය වශයෙන් කොළඹ වාණිජ කේන්ද්රස්ථානය වශයෙන් සැලකිය යුතු විය. වසර 2000 කට පමණ පෙර කොළඹ සිට වෙළඳුන් විසින් හොඳින් හඳුනන ලදී. රෝමන්වරු, චීන, අරාබි වෙළෙන්දෝ මේ වරාය කැමැත්තක් දැක්වූහ. පෘතුග්රීසීන් 1505 දී ශී්ර ලංකාවේ පසෙහි තම පාදය සකස් කරගත් අතර, මේ රට ප්රධාන වශයෙන් ඔවුන්ගේ කුළු බඩු වෙළඳාම සඳහා තෝරා ගත්තේය. ලන්දේසි පාලනයේ කාලය තුළ කොළඹ නාගරික ප්රදේශවල අගනුවර ලෙස සේවය කළ අතර ලන්දේසි නැගෙනහිර ඉන්දියා සමාගම දැඩි ලෙස පාලනය කරන ලදී. 1796 දී වරාය නගරය ආක්රමණය කළ බි්රතාන්යයන් අන්තිම නගරය විය. කෙසේ වෙතත් වරාය නගරය 1815 දී පමණ ප්රාග්ධනය බවට පත්විය. 1866 ජනවාරියේදී නාගරික සභාව පිහිටුවන තුරු, නගරය පාලනය කළේ රජයේ නියෝජිතයා විසිනි. බස්නාහිර පළාත. ඓතිහාසික වශයෙන් කොළඹ කොටුව සහ පිටකොටුව වෙළඳ පොළ වටා පිහිටි ප්රදේශය ගැන සඳහන් කරයි. මෑත කාලයේ කොළඹ නගර සභාවේ නගර සීමාව සමග හඳුනාගෙන ඇත.
